This year we are having an amazing trans human library full off incredible and diverse “books”. The way in which it works is that individuals who would like to share their stories become “books”. They hang around the library (trans space) and wait to be “checked-out” by readers. In reality what happens is that the individual who is volunteering will get to have a 30-45 minute conversation with folks who are interested in learning from lived experience. Volunteers share their story and answer questions. We are looking for diverse trans folks and trans allies who are friends or family of trans individuals to be part of our library. If you are interested and/or would like more information please write to us at firstname.lastname@example.org subject line: Trans Human Library.
***Call Out for Trans Performers**
We are having a Cabaret Performance Night and we are looking for proposals from trans artists and performers. Please send us a proposal of your act email@example.com subject line: Cabaret proposal.
An honorarium will be provided for selected performances.
Rally and March:
The rally will start at 6:00 pm on Friday 28 June 2013 at the Norman Jewison Park. This year we are giving priority to marginalized voices within trans communities and focusing on bringing forth the voices of trans folk of colour.
Come and show your support for the trans community as they celebrate the LGBTTIQQ2SA community.
The Trans Pride Rally is one of the largest events of the trans communities in the GTA. The Trans Pride Rally provides a place for trans identified people to rally, to stand up and come together in solidarity. It’s a grass-roots community focused event, providing safe space for trans people.
The trans march will immediately follow the rally.
The Trans March is a grass-roots community focused event, providing safe space for trans people. Since it began in 2009, the Trans March has sought to provide a place for trans identified people to rally, stand up and come together in solidarity. It is now one of the largest events of the trans* communities in the GTA.
This year the Trans March is being organized by trans* community members in collaboration with Pride Toronto’s Trans Pride volunteers.
Thanks to the efforts of the community, this year’s Trans March will take place on Yonge Street. We were able to secure a permit that will stop at Yonge and Wood. The community Trans March Committee has decided to continue to march past Wood to College and turn towards Allen Gardens. Pride Toronto will march until wood and then meet the rest of the group at Allen Gardens. Join the Trans March!!!
Registration is not mandatory but it is surely welcomed. If you would like to register for the march please go to http://www.pridetoronto.com/trans-pride-march-registration.
All trans identified people, their friends and allies are welcome in all Trans* Pride events.
